08:00 You will be picked up at your hotel. It takes 2 hour drive southwest of Saigon to the Mekong delta which is known as the rice bowl of Vietnam. Upon arrival, take a boat cruise around islets and tropical orchards through the canal of Vam Xep to reach a small islet, followed by a relaxing walk along shady and palm fringed trails passing by local villages where you can see their peaceful daily life. Stop on the way to visit a bee farm, sip the special tea with honey and sample fruits with a local family and share their stories of life in the Mekong Delta. Visit a small coconut workshop, just to get a glimpse of typical family run business in this area.

Walk to a lane where a horse-drawn cart  awaits you to transfer to visit the handicraft village, a coconut candy factory, enjoy the tropical fruits, traditional music and then relax with rowing boat through the narrow under shade palm, tree-lined canals of Mekong river before returning to My Tho by motorized boat.  Enjoy lunch at local restaurant on the islet before heading back Saigon.

Stop on the way to visit one of the following site:

 Vinh Trang pagoda – an ancient southern architectural gem. Built in 1849, the structure is a harmonious mixture of Asian and European architecture including elements from the Renaissance period, Romanesque style, French decorative flowers and Japanese enameled tile.  There are many specious statues made of wood, among which a collection of 18 was Bodhisattvas sculpted in 1907, representing the summit in sculpture in the Mekong River plains.

Cao Dai temple in My Tho city that is a combination of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and  Confucianism.

Dong Tam snake farm (extra cost) –  a center for breeding snakes producing venom for exportation and an ecological zoo where different genes of rare & precious animals in the Southern area are conserved. There is a museum of almost all species of pythons and snakes in Vietnam. The farm has a collection of mutant turtles and fish on exhibit.

08:00 You will be picked up at your hotel . Transfer to Ben Tre.

10:00 Arrive at Ben Tre town, take a boat trip on Mekong river. Sight-seeing  local activities on river.  Stop  to see how people make bricks, salts, coconut worshop.  Boat on  Cai Son  and Nhon Thanh creeks to see some family making mats.  Take  pull cart (xe lôi) passing by rice fields and vegetable plains to know how to culture in country.

12:00 Stop to Mr. Hai Ho house for learning  how to cook local food, then enjoy your lunch.

In the afternoon, take rowing-boat along water palm creek. Boating a long Cai Coi creek back to B?n Tre City. Then move back to Saigon.

08:00 You will be picked up at your hotel for the transfer to Cai Be. Take a boat trip on Mekong river. Then stop at local workshops to see how rice paste, coconut candy and pop-rice, pop-corn made.

Later the rowing boat takes you deeper to the countryside along the smaller cannals. Enjoy the peaceful time, traditional house made of wood & palm tree leaves, watching the local farmers catching fishes….

After lunch, we can walk around and then enjoy some kinds of fruits while listening to the traditional music. One more thing to do in this trip is biking! It will be so amazing to bike on village paths to see the local farms, houses, real life and the ancestral ways to pick up fruits in Mekong Delta.

End of the day, the cruise take you to Vinh Long city where you take your vehicle back to Saigon.

Detailed Itinerary

08:00 You will be picked up you at your hotel for the transer to Ben Tre.

Ben Tre province is famous for its coconut production and quiet, peaceful waterways. On arrival, take a Xe loi ride through the local village of Huu Dinh to enjoy the green fields and gardens. Continue with a short walk to Huu Phuoc Bridge, where you will start your boat trip through small canals with beautiful tropical scenery. On board the boat, enjoy a welcome drink and tropical fruits while cruising.

The cruise will first stop at a Coconut processing family owned business. Here you will learn what Ben Tre is known for and the hundreds of uses of each single coconut. Return to your boat and cruise across the water to a brick making factory, where the locals still use centuries-old traditional methods to make the bricks by hand. Enjoy a casual cycling trip that will take you to visit a local rice noodle factory which produces Hu Tieu noodles, one of the most popular dishes in the region. After your visit take a short walk to one of our friends, Mrs. Huong, who lives with her 3 children and grandson – they live on fishing, shrimp and fruit orchards. Enjoy fresh fruits and tea and then board a rowing sampan taking you through a lush narrow canal, displaying the tranquil nature of the region.

After our team rows you through the quiet canal, reconnect with your Day Cruiser and enjoy a cruise to a private riverside restaurant. It is time for you to relax and enjoy a 5-course lunch of local specialties. Relax and have a walk around the lush garden setting.

Then continue your cycling trip to My Long to visit Mr Sau Tuong, a former Vietcong soldier who survived two years fighting the Khmer Rouge in Phnom Penh. Now he and his wife live on making rice paper which is the most famous specialty of My Long village. Have a chat with him and enjoy the crispy rice paper made by his wife, and see how it is made. Then visit the nearby house of Mr Hung, who is a famous sticky rice maker in the village. You can also feed his stock of catfish and walk through his fruit garden.

After the visit, the boat will be waiting for you at the pier nearby to bring you back to Ben Tre city where your car will be ready to take you back to Saigon.

07:00 You will be picked up at your hotel for the transer to Cai Be town pier.

10:30 Welcome on board and fresh towels are served. Cruise to begin with the visit to Cai Be colorful floating market, cruising among local barges full of fruits and vegetables. Stop at local home factories to observe the traditional procedure of making rice ice paste, coconut candies and other specialties. Lunch at “Le Longanier”, a superb Indochinese villa located by the river, in a lush tropical garden surrounded with fruit plantations.

Proceed to Dong Hoa Hiep Island located between Vinh Long and Cai Be to discover beautiful landscape along the river.  Visit to ancient mandarin house dating from 1890 with personal welcome by the house owner. Proceed to Vinh Long, passing beautiful landscapes along Dong Phu canal, Binh Hoa Phuoc and An Binh, the islands that are famous for fruit  orchards. Make a stop at An Binh ancient church or Tam Ho’s nursery garden on the way back. Crossing Co Chien river, the excursion ends at Vinh Long Pier at 16:00, where your own private transportation vehicle will  await for you. Transfer back to Saigon.

Stop at An Binh islet to visit some of the famous fruit orchards. See how local people make ceramics, popcorn and rice paper… A nice chance for bicycle riding through the village and its handicraft shops. Another stop at Vinh Long market before arriving to Can Tho. DAY 2 : CAN THO – SAIGON (B/L/-)

07 :00 Early morning cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries by motorboat, you will see the Cai Rang floating market- the busiest but nicest one with heaps of boats. See the beautiful scenery and daily activities of the locals. Walk around a village, visit a rice husking mill. Disembark at Ninh Kieu quay. Visit an ancient house in Binh Thuy (10 km from Cantho). Have lunch at a local restaurant on the way back to Sai Gon via My Tho.

DAY 1 : SAIGON – CAI BE – VINH LONG – CAN THO (-/L/-)

08 :00 You will be picked up at your hotel to depart to Cai Be. Upon arrival at Cai Be, embark a private boat to cruise around Cai Be floating market. Visit a local garden and house to see orchard, rice crisp production process, .. DAY 3 : CHAU DOC – SAIGON (B/L/-)

08:00 A boat trip to a floating fish farms is the highlight of Chau Doc, a Cham minority village, where traditional weaving remains the major trade. The last stop in Chau Doc is to a local Muslim Mosque. Have lunch at a local restaurant before going back to Saigon.

DAY 2 : CHO LACH – CAI BE – VINH LONG – SAIGON (B/L/-)

Breakfast at local home

08:00 Take a bike ride around the village (3-8 km, depending on your health).  Then transfer to Cai Be by car (40 km). On arrival take a boat trip – The program will start at  Cai Thia pier of Caibe.

Tranfer to have bicycles for 1-2 hours exploring the famous village of Hoa Loc Mango. You will be biking on small beautifull roads. It is so interesting to see traditional houses made of wood and palm tree leaves and see some activities of the local farmers with an apportunity to make contacts with them and see how they catch fish or pick up fruits by ancestral ways in Mekong Delta.

Then, the boat will pick up you to the local garden for lunch at Ut Trinh home. Have fruits and tea when enjoying the traditional music. Next, you will enjoy the peaceful time on the rowing boat, then visit brick factorie. Enjoy some kinds of fruits from this garden & homemade rice wine. Arrive Vinhlong city. End of the boat trip . Met by driver then transfer back to Saigon.

08:00 You will be picked up you at your hotel for the transer to Cai Be town pier.

Take a boat trip for visiting Cai Be colorful floating market which is known as a wholesale floating market. The wholesalers on big boats often moor here. The buyers often takes the smaller boats so they can easily find what they are looking for following the tall wooden poles which hang samples of the goods on the big boats. Here, the boat will take us among local barges full of fruits and vegetables. After the market we stop at local workshops to visit rice paste, coconut candy, pop-rice, pop-corn production or we visit the handicraft village where the local people make special products of rice-net for spring rolls, fish sauce, soyal sauce, cooking salt, sewing coconut-leaves for cottage proof….Then  stop for lunch.

In the afternoon, the rowing boat will take you deeper into the countryside along the canals. It’s time we feel the peaceful air while passing traditional houses which made of wood, palm tree leaves; farmers catching fishes or picking up fruits by ancestral way in Mekong Delta.

Arriving at home-stay, check in and enjoy the last but not least activity of the day is biking. It will be so amazing to bike on village paths to see the local farms, houses, real life and the ancestral ways to pick up fruits in Mekong Delta.

In the rest of the day, learn cooking some dishes with the owners, then enjoy dinner and have cup of tea or rice wine when talking together. You can ask the locals about the culture, people, and history of this island. They do not mind to answer some personal questions. Overnight at homestay.

DAY 2: VINH LONG – CAN THO (B/L/-)

After breakfast with the host family, you will get boat on river for a cruise along some small canals and then the endless waterways of the mighty Mekong. Continue our boat trip to Vinh Long. Some time you will stop for visiting brick pottery kilns and a floating fish farm. After that, drive to Can Tho city which is considered to be the heart of the Mekong Delta. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Can Tho.

DAY 3 : CAN THO – SAIGON (B/L/-)

07:00 Take the boat trip to visit the famous Cai Rang floating market with the busy sense right at the time. This is a biggest floating market in Mekong Delta where we can see the daily life and local people selling their products on boats. Head back to Saigon.

Itinerary

DAY 1: SAIGON – MEKONG Homestay (L/D)

You will be transfer from Ho Chi Minh City downtown to Cai Be district on morning. Arriving in Cai Be, you will be welcomed by the hospitable smile of the host and invited some fresh fruits before embarking  on  boat to  visit  Cai Be Floating Market and traditional handicraft villages. You’ll have an opportunity to talk to the sellers on their boats. The boat will then lead you to the home-stay on Tan Phong Island for checking-in and having lunch.

In the afternoon, local host will lead you to his orchards where you can learn how to take care for the garden and how to pluck the ripen fruits as the host does every day. You will visit the vegetable garden and  gather the  vegetables for your dinner.You yourself will prepare your own dinner with the help of local host.  Stay overnight at the home-stay.

DAY 2: MEKONG Homestay – SAIGON (B)

Waking up in the early morning to enjoy the fresh air of Mekong region and then taking a stroll around the home-stay, your 2nd  day tour in Mekong will start.

Coming back to the home-stay where the delicious breakfast is waiting for you. After breakfast time, you will join a bicycle tour around Tan Phong Island to  visit the traditional handicraft workshops of handbags, rice papers along with wooden tables and chairs.  Afterwards, we will return to the home-stay for check-out.  At 11:00, the small boat will transfer you back to the Cai Be tourist boat wharf and you will drive to Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 1 : BEN TRE – AN HOA- VINH LONG

160x113_1mekongUpon arrival, you will board your Mango cruise boat at Mango Pier(You will be transferred from Hung Vuong Pier to Mango Pier if you cruise with the Lily May) and head to An Hoa canals. Upon boarding your private sampan, your luggage will be brought to your cabin, while you enjoy a refreshing welcome cocktail on the deck while meeting your crewmembers and enjoying the scenery and fresh air from the water.

The cruise will take you to PhongNam village in Giong Trom, where you will take a rowing sampan boat through the small canals, which are covered green by the water coconut plants.

Stop at a local house to taste the tropical fruits and chat with the farmer. Visit the rice noodle factory before starting your bike trip around the village. Then return to your boat to enjoy the lunch before continuing to cruise to Sa Dec town.On the way we will stop for a visit at the floating fish farm and experience the local river culture.
Get back to your boat, relax and enjoy your cruise then prepare for your cooking demonstration while enjoying your dinner. Overnight on board on the Upper river.

DAY 2 : VINH LONG – SA DEC

160x113_3mekongBreakfast will be served onboard and cruising towards the town of Sa Dec and you will start to explore this charming town, where it is the backdrop for the film ‘The Lover’, based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Marguerite Duras.The story is about a teenage French girl who falls in love with a wealthy Chinese man, Huynh Thuy Le.

You will visit his old family home as well as the high school where Marguerite’s mother was a teacher.
Then, you will continue with cycling through the village of Tan Qui Dong. For hundreds of years this village has provided Saigon with its daily flower supply.

After that, meeting your driver on land for your return to Saigon or your onwards trip.
