DAY 1: SAIGON ARRIVAL

Be met at Tan Son Nhat airport and transfered to your hotel in the center of Saigon. The rest of the day is free for your  own enjoyment. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

DAY 2: SAIGON – CU CHI – SAIGON (B/L/D)

Breakfast at hotel.

08:00 You will be picked up at your hotel. Start the excursion to visit Cu Chi tunnels, the incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the long struggle for independence. Back to Ho Chi Minh city for lunch. In the afternoon, visit War museum, China town, Thien Hau temple, Notre Dame cathedral & Ben Thanh market. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

DAY 3: SAIGON – MY THO – SAIGON (B/L/-)

08:00 Heading out of the bustling city, we ride along rice fields to My Tho, one of the Mekong Delta provinces. Upon arrival in My Tho, we embark on a boat trip navigating around the small canals in the delta region, which pass My Tho fruit markets. Join in with daily activities of local people and enjoy the atmosphere of water world along the canals and along the Tien river. The exciting cruise continues to Unicorn island, here you can taste many seasonal fruits and enjoy the local traditional music, performed by the islanders. Lunch at a typical country garden house. Next stops are the coconut candy “mill” and some other local industries in Ben Tre province. Drive back to Saigon. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

DAY 4: SAIGON – DEPARTURE (B)

Free time for shopping or optional visits before being transfered to Tan Son Nhat Airport for departure.

DAY 1:  SAIGON ARRIVAL

You are welcomed at Tan Son Nhat airport and then be transferred to your hotel in the center of city. Half day city tour: visit War museum, China town, Thien Hau temple, Notre Dame cathedral with the passing Ben Thanh market. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

DAY 2: SAIGON – TAY NINH – CU CHI – SAIGON (B/L)

08:00 You will be picked up at your hotel. Drive a long way on the country side of Vietnam to Tay Ninh, 100 km from Ho Chi Minh city. On arrival to the head quarters of the Cao Dai religion, you will have a chance to witness the daily ceremony at Cao Dai Holy See, and meet followers that come to attend the ceremony wearing colored robes, a symbol of the curious combination of the Confucianism, Taoism, Christianity and Buddhism. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Drive to the tunnels of Cu Chi, where are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels that are located in the Cu Chi district of Saigon, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underline much of the country. On our way there we drive through pleasant countryside; rubber plantations and rice paddies. At the Cu Chi tunnels, you will see a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, followed by an exploration of the maze of tunnels, some of which have been widened to allow tourist access. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500lb bombs dropped by B52 bombers. After that transfer back to Saigon. Back to your hotel at around  18.30. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

DAY 3: SAIGON – CAI BE (OR CAN THO) – MEKONG EYES CRUISE (B/L/D)

In the morning, the shuttle bus of Mekong Eyes will  pick you up at your hotel and take you to Cai Be (or Can Tho) (note: no private tour guide). You board the Mekong Eyes at around noon. After a refreshing welcome drink we show you our on-board facilities and your cosy cabin. As lunch is served, the boat will start cruising. Sit back and watch the fantastic scenery and the daily life of the Mekong people.

In the afternoon you can disembark for a guided leisurely stroll through the village and the surrounding fruit orchards or rice fields. Meet the friendly locals and taste the local produce and fruits. Get back on board and enjoy a drink at the bar or relax on the top deck as the sun sets over the magnificent water landscape. The boat will anchor for the night. The day ends with a delicious on-board dinner. Overnight on Mekong Eyes boat. 

DAY 4: CAI RANG (OR CAI BE FLOATING MARKET) – SAIGON (B/L/-)

Breakfast on board.

Wake up well rested to the sound of the River and get ready for another exciting day of sightseeing. At 6:30 the boat will set off for a sunrise cruise. Watch the locals go about  their daily work drying exotic fruits and building ships on the wooden yards while enjoying an early breakfast.

After breakfast, we will board a sampan boat to Cai Rang (or Cai Be) floating market, the region’s busiest and most lively market. Marvel at the sheer abundance of exotic fruits, vegetables and skilfully handcrafted regional products. We will pull up to the boats for talking and bargaining with the merchants. We will also visit some of the local candy and cake making factories or boat through the green water landscape to see local houses, verdant orchards and ship-building yards.

The boat trip ends at around 11.00 – 11.30 on the pier. After lunch, we will take you back to your hotel in Saigon. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

 Note:

–  Mekong Eyes goes from Can Tho to Cai Be (on odd dates, 1, 3, 5, 7 etc.) or from Cai Be to Can Tho (on even dates, 2, 4, 6, 8 etc…)

–  On odd date pick up time in Ho Chi Minh City is 07.00. On even date pick up time in Ho Chi Minh City is 08.00.

–  The road trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho takes approx. 4 hours, to Cai Be approx. 2 hours. This is why on odd dates we have to leave Ho Chi Minh City earlier than on even dates.

DAY 5: SAIGON – DEPARTURE (B)

Free time for shopping or relax until time to airport for departure home or next destination.

DAY 2: SAIGON – CU CHI – SAIGON (B/L/-)

In the afternoon, visit War museum, Chinatown, Thien Hau temple, Notre Dame cathedral with the stop at Ben Thanh market. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

DAY 3: SAIGON – MY THO – CAN THO HOMESTAY (B/L/D)

07:00 Pick up at your hotel in the early morning. Upon arrival at My Tho, cruise along a small creek to theMekong River, to Phoenix Island and stop for lunch at a garden restaurant run by a farmer. The motorized boat cruises more along natural creeks and quiet villages in Ben Tre Province. Visit the orchards, a bee – keeping farm, taste natural honey and honey wine, enjoy tropical fruit, traditional music, see round a distillery, explore the local coconut candy production process, and taste candy & coconut pulp. Then transfer to Phung Hiep (in Can Tho) where you and local people prepare dinner and cultural exchanges. Diner and overnight at Homestay in Can tho.

DAY 4: CAN THO – CHAU DOC (B/L/-)

07:00 Cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries by rowing boat, you will see the Cai Rang floating market (the nicest one with lots of rowing boats). Take in the beautiful scenery and the daily activities of the locals who live along the Mekong canals and you will roam through the village to visit a rice husking mill factory. A chance to discover the daily life of locals in Mekong Delta. Disembark at Ninh Kieu quay then travel by land to Chau Doc, on the way we will pass Thot Not to visit Bang Lang Bird Sanctuary (Stork Garden) or Crocodile Farm. Lunch on the way. On arrival at Chau Doc, visit the Sam mountain to enjoy the breath-taking view and enjoy the sunset on the top of Sam mountain. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Chau Doc.

DAY 5: CHAU DOC – SAIGON (B/L/-)

Breakfast at hotel.

08:00 A boat trip to visit the floating fish breeding farms reveals the amazing highlight of Chau Doc, a Cham minority village, who still gain employment from traditional weaving. The last stop in Chau Doc is to a local Islamic Mosque. Have lunch at local restaurant before going back to Saigon. Dinner on your own. Overnight at hotel in Saigon.

DAY 6: SAIGON – DEPARTURE (B)

Free time for shopping or relaxation until the time for being taken to airport for your departure home or the next destination.
