In an idyllic valley, the Mai Chau area is a world away from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. The small town of Mai Chau is unappealing, but nearby are Thai villages surrounded by lush paddy fields. There’s minimal traffic, and the rural soundtrack is defined by gurgling irrigation streams and birdsong.

Day 1: Hanoi To Mai Chau

Day 2: Mai Chau-Hanoi

DAY 1: HANOI TO MAI CHAU (-/L/D)

8:00 Depart for Hoa Binh. Photo stops to admire the hills covered with tea plantations, rice paddies and dotted with limestone rocks. Visit a village market on the way. Continuation to Mai Chau valley, typical steps on the road to Dien Bien Phu. Removed along the mountains of Laos, visiting authentic villages where you are greeted by the Thai ethnic groups living in houses on stilts.

Lunch in a traditional house in the village Van. Then do an easy, short walking tour to the villages of Van, Pomcong and Lat to discover the daily life of the Thai ethnic minority.

Overnight in a hotel or a house on stilts in Mai Chau.

DAY 2: MAI CHAU-HANOI (B/L/-)

This morning, you will continue the trip with a valley bike trip (easy level, 10km) to visit a local daily market, Natang, Phalong, Naphon and Chieng Chau village of White Thai people. Enjoy lunch in the village.

In the afternoon, drive back to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi at around 5pm.
