There’s minimal traffic, and the rural soundtrack is defined by gurgling irrigation streams and birdsong.

DAY 1: HANOI – MAI CHAU – MAI HICH VILLAGE (-/L/D)

8.00 Departing from Hanoi to Mai Chau valley, 150km North-west of Hanoi. Around 12:00, we’ll arrive in the village of Mai Chau. Surrounded by steep mountains and stunning rice paddies, tiny Mai Chau is an uplifting and refreshing holiday from a region packed with challenging travel opportunities. Short trek to visit villages of Thai minority people (biking option is available),and to visit their homes to see how they live and have a friendly chat with other locals. Lunch in a local house.

In the afternoon, continue on by car 15km further to Mai Hich, a beautiful village of the Thai minorities. Enjoy your time with easy walking to visit the neighbours in the village. Dinner with the host family and overnight at a local home (house on stilts) at Mai Hich.

DAY 2: MAI HICH – HANOI (B/L/-)

Enjoy breakfast at a local home.

08.30 Do a short walking tour to visit the villagers and enjoy the bamboo rafting upstream to view scenic shots and to feel the peace. Lunch in a local home. In the afternoon, we’ll drive back to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi at around 5pm.
