Hi Quan,
My apologies for the delay in replying to your email. It has taken me quite a while to recover from the jet-lag. Thank you so much for arranging what was a wonderful trip for me in Cambodia and Vietnam. I will be happy to leave a review for you on Trip Advisor.
Everything went smoothly: drivers and guides were friendly, helpful and on time! I’d like to give special recognition to three female guides who were especially lovely: Chenda in Siem Reap, Liem from Chau Doc to Saigon, and My in Hanoi.
The hotels were mostly good with three that were exceptionally good: The Hari Residence in Siem Reap, the Royal Riverside in Hoian and the Hanoi Brilliant in Hanoi. (The Ninh Kieu Riverside in Can Tho was also very nice but I was only there overnight so didn’t get to enjoy it.) When I say the hotel was good, I’m thinking not only of the comfortable room and amenities, but also the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. One hotel I would not recommend was The Okay Hotel in Phnom Penh (the room was dark and much too large for me with three large beds plus a sitting area, the hotel was in an area of the city where walking around did not feel safe, the room had inadequate electrical outlets and poor lighting, not a great breakfast). While the Phong Nha Lake House in Phong Nha was a lovely setting, I would not recommend it for a solo traveler because it was too far from the town of Phong Nha (about 6 km) and I felt quite isolated there. I had quite a bit of free time and there was nothing to do. It was too cold to swim in the pool. I would have preferred being in the town itself.
Overall I had a great time and look forward to returning to Vietnam in the next few years. Thank you for everything you did to make this a very memorable trip. I appreciate it very much.
All the best,
Sandy Wallin
