After lunch, begin your city discovery tour, visiting some of Luang Prabang’s most revered temples such as Wat Visoun, known as the “Watermelon Stupa” for its rounded shape, and Wat Mai, famous for its intricate golden bas-reliefs. Continue to Wat Xieng Thong, a 16th-century architectural masterpiece that embodies the grace and harmony of Lao design.
Next, visit the National Museum (closed on Tuesday) and the former Royal Palace, home to the sacred Prabang Buddha statue and royal gifts from visiting dignitaries. Stop by the Hmong market and a local craft shop before climbing Phousi Hill — 329 steps to a magnificent panoramic view over the city and the Mekong River.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the Mekong, then cruise downstream through serene scenery and stop at Ban Muangkeo, where villagers collect and dry riverweed — a beloved local snack unique to Luang Prabang.
