The Quintessence of Tonkin show

Ten years in the making, the Quintessence of Tonkin is an outdoor spectacle that reaffirms Hanoi's position as the cultural capital of Vietnam. Showcasing traditional elements of Vietnamese culture in a contemporary and innovative way, the Quintessence of Tonkin delivers audiences a unique and memorable exploration of the Red River Delta — the beating heart of northern Vietnam.

Staged on a real lake of 1.5 ha and with an impressive infrastructure, like a pagoda under the water in the center of the lake, the show emerges and unfolds. The show takes its inspiration from water puppetry and mixes song, dances, costumes, lights, and decorations.

Farmers and farming families are in the spotlight and will tell us the story of the pagoda that was founded by Venerable monk Tu Dao Hanh. The representation is an entire live exposition on Vietnamese Agricultural Culture and belief.

Performance time: 19:00-20:00, every Saturday

Remark: “The Quintessence of Tonkin” is taken place at 25 km from Hanoi city center. The shuttle bus leaves Hanoi Tower at 17:00, returns at 20:15.
